About
LittleFoundry is a one-person software foundry run by James Martin. It's where I publish the apps I make.
Why “LittleFoundry”
A foundry is where raw metal is melted down and cast into something solid and useful. LittleFoundry is a small one, for apps. Each one starts as something I wanted to use myself, and gets made properly, with the tools its platform was designed for.
What I make
The first app is Winston, a native Windows 11 client for Mastodon. It's built with WinUI 3 and .NET, uses the Fluent design of Windows 11, and keeps your accounts on your PC.
The second is Ex Libris, for keeping track of the books in your home. It's an iPhone app built with SwiftUI and SwiftData: it scans a shelf of barcodes at a time, fills in each book from Hardcover's catalogue, and keeps your library on your phone.
More apps are on the bench.
How I work
- Native first. Apps use their platform's own toolkit, so they fit in with everything else on your device.
- No tracking. There's no LittleFoundry account, no analytics and no ads in the apps.
- Help from AI, reviewed by me. I build my apps with help from AI tools, and I review every change and its tests myself before it ships.
- Small, frequent releases. Every change is tested before it ships, and updates arrive through the Microsoft Store or the App Store.
